Mentor tango No. 2

Our communication with our supervisor G. Amorim has been mainly virtual due to tight schedules and work overload in both sides. The challenges he raised are still applicable and hence we are working on them. In addition, the team contacted Gonçalo Henriques a digital entrepreneur with long experience in the app business so he can join the team as mentor too. He accepted, with this the team will be benefited with two mentors: one more focused on development of large impact and large scale businesses and the other more focused on the the specific field. Thank you both!

Insights from interviews

Our last weeks of interviews resulted in promising insights: Our core values had been validated, which leave most work on product design in order to find the easier and simpler way to deliver our value. The interviews also help get some recommendations of possible users about our application and also realize that there might be more client segments, which increase pour market figures 🙂

The conclusions couldn’t be better: as soon we validate the other, less risky, hypotheses; our development will depend mostly on us and the way we bring our product to life

Mentor tango No. 1

Challenging is the word to describe our first meeting.

After the formalities: introductions and small disorganized pitch, we got into business… Gonçalo Amorim called challenge over our identified problem, then he called challenge over our idea fundamentals. Asked us to show the real opportunities for the problem, define our market and, if there is none profitable one, just bring the idea down from the roots. There’ll be tough times ahead but if we can convince him of our idea’s worth then our idea would prove its true value. Challenge accepted!

The 2nd bootcamp Energias de portugal

The 2nd bootcamp focused on identifying and validation of hypotheses and on getting broader understanding of our potential clients.  Antonio spent time clarifying doubts about identification of hypotheses and followed with explaining the process of validation. the map of empathy was introduced, which can provide interesting insights on the real needs of potential clients. Several groups presented about their learning of the first week of work, kind of impressive the progress other teams have achieved. It is challenging because the more teams have good progress, the higher the bar is set for the whole program. Next steps imply lots of work… bring them on!

The first day of Energias de Portugal

May 18, 2013,  9:00 hrs, we arrived to the venue of the first bootcamp of Energias de Portugal, which has an ambitious objective of guiding 50 startups towards success. The place was already crowded with most of the teams present and a positive environment. The bootcamp started as schedule, which was a nice surprise. Mr António Lucena, Founder of Fabrica de Startups gave us an overview of how our following weeks would look like and later on, presented the standard methodology for building business models (Alex Osterwalder’s). Our team was already knowledgeable of it, hence the making of the first iteration of our business model ran smoothly. After lunch, an invited speaker, Daniela Couto, co-founder of Cell2be talk about the vicissitudes of her startup. At the end of the day, more information was given about mentors and project work during the following week. The program started well and the future looks promising.
